Backed up, pulled over, and let them on their way, fully ablaze with icy blue. Tw*ts.

:o That's outrageous Chris...

I can remember when Quartz Halogen headlamps were the new kids on the block and we all worried that they were far too bright and thus unsafe as we'd all effectively blind each other...

Don't the French have a saying...

plus les choses changent plus elles restent les mêmes

(the more things change the more they stay the same)

Nope, just a nice gradient for cycling, just enough to get your heart rate up a little... Not steep at all...

Anyone spot any classics this weekend?

Meantime here's a front view of my Friday Spot. Lovely. The owner I suspect was from the Netherlands. As I have subsequently found out the Netherlands have a particular series of registration numbers for imported classic cars (or "Oldtimers" as they like to describe them)

The DZ prefix identifies them as being over 40 years old at the time of import. They also use a prefix of YA YB or YD to identify imported classic cars younger that 40 years (Youngtimers!)

Strange developments in American tail lights, more particularly indicators: red ones that are separate from the brake lights, including a couple with white lenses - & red bulbs!

I always thought that a good round headlamp was the best you could do but the Peugeot 406 lights are the best I have ever had and the shape is all over the place, why are they so good?

Now I found this fascinating. That is the front end of a Triumph Model P Motorcycle, which featured on tonight's "Bangers and Cash".

I have managed to capture the lighting system. Carbide in the bottom of the canister on the handle bars, water in the top, and hey presto gas to run your gas-powered lamps front and back!

PS That bike had some other quirky little knobs buttons and levers too :-D

This car could almost go in the Car names best and worst thread, although it probably just scrapes a not bad.

Its back end is perhaps more characteristic but close up its got a reasonably awful but interesting set of front lights.

Too easy for a proper whatsthisthen? but well done if you get the model name straight away.

That one is the famous "Droopsnoot" version. It had very low drag coefficient for the time. It used the same headlights as the Renault Alpine A310 according to wiki. Design success apparently but commercial failure.

I did. When I was big into rallying un the 70s and early 80 living near to the Ellesmere Port factory there were sometimes interesting cars owned by people who worked there. One of the chaps who was heavily involved in the Vauxhall Motoring Group owned an Droopsnoot. God, it didn't half rot!
