Fuel Injectors

Post by davscer » 11 Sep 2019, 12:20

Hi, I am having issues with my car and i think i found the problem. It is difficult to start when the engine is cold, greyish / black exhaust fumes and sluggish at times. I feel car hesitating too from 1300rpm to 2000 rpm. I blanked the EGR and still I am having problems. I bet its the Injectors as I have spoken to several mechanics about this issue. We dont have good fuel quality here. My question is, is it a hard job to replace and since I have the Delphi Pump, what injectors do I need? If possible with their part number. Any help would be appreciated. Its a 2008 407 Coupe 2.0 HDi RHR engine.

Malta once had a fine reputation for being able to keep its vehicles on the road, more-or-less for ever! :P
Could you not get your injectors serviced/recalibrated? - something most diesel specialists should be able to do - and much cheaper than a new set.

If fuel is poor quality, try a regular dose of either Wynn's diesel fuel treatment, or Miller's Diesel Power Plus. Both improve the way the fuel burns, and will clean and lubricate the injector system.

So from the symptoms which i am experiencing, the injectors would need a clean? I will try and find these additives before sending them to a specialist. Thanks.

Despite what you may think - blanking the EGR is not a good idea and not something we condone on the Forum. Doing this will lead to engine fault codes as the engine ECU relies on it. Best advice it to clean or replace it and don't blank it.

P1471 relates directly to the EGR throttle housing electrovalve valve being open. This will lead to lack of power. jerking and stalling.
